Half a Teaspoon, the developer of a new re-usable water bottle with an inbuilt filter, was announced winner of Australia’s first pitching session for creative businesses at QUT Creative Enterprise Australia’s creative3 Investment Marketplace in Brisbane.
The Victorian small business and developer of 321 Water and ShowerWatch won the $100,000 creative business prize package against a very competitive field of six other aspiring creatives from across the dynamic sector.
QUT’s Creative Enterprise Australia Chief Executive Officer, Anna Rooke said Half a Teaspoon was announced the winner by Wotif.com founder Graeme Wood at the creative3 Gala Dinner after all seven finalists faced a grueling day in front of the dragon den’s judging panel.
“The talented, creative start-ups showcased their business concepts to the international expert business panel with 321 Water earmarked for its innovation and future commercial potential,” Anna said.
“Half A Teaspoon specialises in creating products that help people use water consciously without having to compromise on style.”

321 Water has been designed to be filled from any tap to produce fresh, filtered water, with its in-built filter removing chlorine, unpleasant tastes and odours.
Half a Teaspoon will benefit from the $100,000 creative business prize package which includes $25,000 cash and a wide range of e-commerce, legal, business development training, accounting, as well as marketing and advertising support services.
Gretha Oost from Half a Teaspoon could hardly contain her excitement following the announcement at the creative3 Gala Dinner.
“Like many new creative businesses, we put in maximum effort with minimum resources. Winning the creative3 Investment Marketplace will give us the opportunity to work with some of Australia’s leading experts in the fields of finance, law and communications and their advice will open many new doors for Half a Teaspoon,” Ms Oost said.
“Being a part of the creative3 Investment Marketplace has increased our confidence in what we do and given us inspiration to create even better products.”
The creative3 Investment Marketplace was part of the three-day creative3 International Forum held in Brisbane from April 14 to April 16. The forum brought together some of the world’s leading creative enterprise minds and businesses to focus on the interplay between creativity, investment and enterprise to build a successful business.
