DownloaD - New Music Managers Development Initiative

Arts Queensland and QUT Creative Enterprise Australia (CEA)  are pleased to announce a new development initiative for emerging Queensland music managers - DownloaD
 
DownloaD is an intensive 6-month program, being held from November 2009 to April 2010, and is designed to help music managers build sustainable careers and businesses in the music industry.
 
 
Delivered by experienced music managers Leanne de Souza, (Kate Miller-Heidke, george, Stringmansassy) and Rick Chazan, (The Boat People, Dan Parsons) the program includes:
  • six (6) half-day workshops covering vital key issues for today’s emerging music managers customised to the needs of DownloaD participants
  • twelve (12) personalised one-on-one sessions to assist with everyday management issues
  • access to leading music industry professionals throughout the program including: John Watson (John Watson Management and Eleven).
To be eligible for the program participants must:
  • actively manage a minimum of 1 artist that is currently performing live, touring, recording, releasing material or producing contemporary original music – all genres welcome
  • have less than 5 years experience in music management
  • commit to the duration of the program and be available to participate between November 2009 – June 2010
  • have a current, registered Australian Business Number (ABN) with a Queensland address
  • commit to fully engage in the evaluation of the DownloaD program.
This is one of our  emerging new initiatives to address specific sector development needs. Further music development programs will be announced in early 2010.
