Here is a snapshot of the background and expertise of Creative Enterprise Australia's Board:
David Fishel (Chairman)
David is Director of Positive Solutions, a
Brisbane-based consulting practice focusing on arts and cultural development, with a client base in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and elsewhere.
He previously managed arts organisations from small scale touring theatre companies such as Solent Peoples Theatre Company and Orchard Theatre Company to Battersea Community Arts Centre in London and the Liverpool Playhouse (UK).
His specialisation includes strategic planning, feasibility studies and research across the creative industries and government.
Clayton Cooke
Clayton has held leadership positions in the areas of business operations, finance, corporate strategy and development ,and has more than nine years experience in media, internet and telecommunications including roles at British Sky Broadcasting, Carphone Warehouse Group and Telstra.
His career highlights include managing the successful FOXTEL DIGITAL launch, directing Bigpond into a clear leadership position in broadband media, and launching a pan-European wireless portal start-up business.
Scott Sheppard
Scott has held the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International and Development) at Queensland University of Technology since February 2008.
His previous role was the Minister-Counsellor (Education, Science and Training) at the Australian Embassy in Beijing where he was responsible for Australia’s education and science relationship with the People’s Republic of China. This followed a career in diplomatic roles in Australia, Hong Kong and China.
In 2003, Scott was awarded a Centenary Medal for services to international relations.
Professor Susan Street
Susan is Executive Dean of QUT’s Creative Industries Faculty.
She was a former dancer who worked with professional dance companies in Australia and Europe. Susan has held executive positions on a number of prestigious arts bodies throughout the world, consulted to no fewer than ten international arts institutions and previously held the position of Dean of Dance at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts.
The former Head of Dance at QUT has held the Chair of the Dance Fund and was the first Australian dance educator to be promoted to the title of professor.
In recent years, Susan was given an Australian Dance Award for Services to Dance Education and made an Emeritus Professor by QUT.
Brian Richards
Brian is a senior taxation partner of BDO (Qld), specialising in providing taxation advice for more than 30 years.
As a taxation specialist, he consults to other accounting and legal firms, with particular focus in the areas of business restructuring, intellectual property transactions, small business CGT issues, tax planning matters and GST.
Ruth Drinkwater
Ruth is CEO of Australian Association of Angel Investors Ltd, she holds extensive knowledge and understanding of investment at the early commercialisation stage and in start-up companies across a wide range of industry sectors.
Ruth brings a strong background in due diligence, technology transfer and portfolio management with experience in investment, product development, value building, global strategic planning, and the management of technology.
She has worked with approximately 50 technology-based and entrepreneurial start-up companies through their incubation phase in recent years.
